MUSIC VIDEO PROJECT 2007/8

Song track 13 - Scouting for girls - Mountains of Navaho

Group members - Bhavini, becca, aimee and daniel

lyrics

i didn't know what went wrong,
i woke up one day, and you had gone
forever, theres no such thing as forever

you left a mess but not a note,
you emptied my wallet and you stole my smokes
but i'm easy, forgiving you is easy,

i just wanna be with you,
i'll never be a guy like he-man
i'll never be a girl like shee-raa
i'm a fragile beast like kernal kayak

except one day we will fly,
over the seas high in the sky
except one day we will go,
high in the mountains of navaho
high in the mountains of love!

you took my car but you left your cat,
who i never really liked and have since sent back
to your mother,
theres no-one quite like your mother,

i'll never stop til i track you down,
if it takes 10years i'll have you found
coz im only,
trying not to be lonely

i just wanna be with you,
i'll never be a guy like......

except one day we will fly,
over the seas.....

main focuss on the book - as pages turn includes photos focussing on the lyrics and then turning into seperate shots
e.g alarm clock, cat.

other ideas - alternative pages of the book use still shots to create the lyrics of the song.

page one - photos of singer waking looking puzzled at the whereabouts of his lover.

page two - lyrics of the chorus in still shots on the page.. cuts away to actors in wigs for (Hee-man Shee-ra, kernal kaiyak)

page three- art work on page displaying lyrics of 'high in the mountains of navaho'

page four - photo becoming action of car speeding off switches to lonely cat (speedy camerawork to add effect), also character of the mother dressed in exagerated make up , wig and attire.

page five - photo becoming action chasing her and visuals of clock to represent time passing away

page six - lyrics again with the use of hand written stills.

close the book with the final shot of the title handwritten

music videos that have influenced us:

http://video.google.co.uk/videosearch?q=long+road+media-+audio+bullys

we have chosen this example of music videos to put on the blog because it uses the same humurous element that we want to achieve within our music video. it includes props such as attire for the character of the 'mother' which we want to include with our music video and also the use of props such as cigerettes and the locations used such as a guys bedroom.

Plain white T's - Hey there Dellilah

within this video there is good use of split screen which is a technique we hope to include in our music video to contrast cartoon characters alogside the main singer of the video. The close ups and mid-shots used of the protagonist to show him singing about a female character is similar to the song we have chosen to produce a music video for.

the flickbook technique is very affective and conveys a creative form within a video. we hope to include this technique within our music video by using either drawing/artwork or a downloaded image which we will shoot using stills to create a sense of movement within the music video and convey the narrative of the lyrics.

kate nash

we have included this video in our blog because we like the use of stills to create the movement through the props in the video. e.g the socks and toothbrushes reflect the protagonists if the song and create emotions with the movement used.

lilly allen - smile

kate winslet

we liked this video because similarly to what we want to use it reflects contextuality through the characters of the movie from which the song is about and includes them in the video. we want to use the characters of hee-man and shee-ra in our video by using footage of them in action from the program creating a similar effect to this video.

kanye west - heard em say

we feel that this video is extremely effective with the use of cartoons and stills creating a narrative within the song. we hope to achieve a similar effect with the use of artwork on the image of 'love' and the use of landscape mentioned within the video.

scouting for girls - shes so lovely

-its not about you
